Goedendag, Guten Tag!

I would like to introduce myself to you:
My name is Vanessa Micheel, founder of and teacher at Hermes Talen.

I am very grateful to my parents: grateful and lucky that I was brought up bilingual. My native languages are German and Dutch. These two related, but very different languages have accompanied me all my life.

After qualifying as a teacher, I worked for three years with great enjoyment in mainstream education. After this I gained three years experience working in adult education.

I got a great deal of inspiration working as a teacher and manager at the world’s largest and most well-known language institute.
Everything is possible; that is my experience! Teaching without a common language, giving lessons to children who cannot yet read or write! From senior company managers to the grocer from the corner shop........everyone can learn a second language with the right approach!

What do I enjoy most about my profession?
First and foremost, teaching is about creativity to me.
Associating with different types of people and contributing to their development, and at the same time continuing to grow myself. That is what I appreciate most in my work.

In January 2009 it was time for a new challenge: my own language institute! My team and I are looking forward to working together! Los geht’s!
